The warthog gets down on its front wrists (placing its front feet backwards) while searching the dirt for roots and insects to eat. It stirs up the dirt with its snout and feet while it moves along in search of food. They are born with calloused pads on their wrists to protect them so they can move about in this way. During this trip to Africa, I saw a warthog with two babies who were being attacked by 2 black-backed jackals. The mother warthog defended her babies by charging the jackals while the babies sprinted to hide in a large nearby termite mound.
I have been an avid photographer since childhood, noticing the beauty in the architecture, landscapes and wildlife, and loving the challenge of creating just the right composition and mixture of colors and textures. In 2009, I began to receive offers to purchase my photography that I had been posting in an online gallery. I began selling in weekly summer craft shows where I became "noticed" and was asked to exhibit my work in a local gallery. By the end of that first summer, my photography was exhibited in another gallery and I was selling my photography faster than I could ever have imagined.
