Description
Taken moments before sunrise with the moon still in the sky, Maroon Bells shows their beautiful reflection in Maroon Lake. The peaks are called North Maroon and Maroon. They are separated by about one-third mile in the Elk Mountains of the Rockies. Both peaks are over 14,000 ft. Their maroon color comes from mudstone. The yellow trees are aspens which have changed their color for the fall season.
